Staff, family and friends of Raffa again participated in two Light the Night Walks in October in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Thirty-six members of Team Raffa participated in the Light the Night Walks in Rockville on October 6th and/or in Washington, D.C. on October 12th. The teams raised more than $7,700 to support LLS’s efforts to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Patricia Williams, a senior manager at Raffa, started the Light the Night efforts at Raffa. “I have had the privilege of having the support of Raffa for this event for several years now. I walk for Joey Norris whom I have known since he was 4-years-old. We consider Joey’s mom, dad, brothers and extended family a part of our family. Joey, now 14 and a high school freshman, was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 10. He is currently in remission for the second time and has a long way to go,” she said.
The Light The Night Walk is a 2- to 3-mile walk that takes place in the evening in communities across the country. Walkers carry illuminated balloons — white for patients and survivors, red for supporters, and gold for those who have lost their battle to blood cancer.
